The Pilot

Since this is my first post, it's definitely going the be about the sushi I enjoyed at Sake in Mansfield, MA on  Monday.  Let's verify this with some food porn, shall we? Ahem:

(started with some shumai; steamed shrimp dumplings)
(ordered $35-worth of sushi)
(delicious)
(amazing)
(shrimp tempura sushi- my favorite)

I'm no sushi connoisseur, but I definitely crave it at LEAST once every couple weeks.  I tried this new (to me) spot in Mansfield and it was pretty great.  My friends and I ordered: california roll, shrimp tempura roll, avocado roll, sweet potato roll, and crazy roll (crispy, crab, etc), as well as an order of shumai.  For all my city-dwellers, there's no need to be discouraged; Boston is obviously full of great Japanese restaurants and sushi bars.  My go-to spot is on Boylston Street (walking distance from Hynes) and it's called Teriyaki House.  There's also a second location in South Boston by Andrew Station.  It's cheap AND delicious...does it get any better than that? Not Really....

  2. It would be fun if you suggested proper attire to accompany foods

  3. Great photography on this blog. I love it. I love sushi too, so I'm especially glad that you dedicated your first post to it.

  4. Sushi! If you love sushi, then you've got to try Fishmarket at Allston. That place is small, but the fish is so damn fresh. The avocado ball is to die for. It's $11 for a tiny ass ball, but it's worth it! Oh man, it makes my mouth water just thinking about it...

Love your pictures by the way. Are the pictures edited? And what lens settings did you use? I'm an amateur photographer, but I suck at editting. You should give me some lessons on photography some day!

  5. The pictures on this entry are edited...I shoot with a canon 7d and my baby, a 50mm 1.2. I just finished paying it off! I edit in lightroom, slightly, but that lens does magic of its own. I'd love to try Fishmarket, I've heard people talk about it before and it sounds great.

  6. 1.2 =O no wonder your depth of field is so freaking awesome. And your contrast...is that edited or is it the lens? Cause that's some crazy contrast...

Oh and from the items you ordered, it seems like you only like cooked sushi. I think cooked sushi tastes pretty much the same everywhere. But if you're into raw sushi, then Fishmarket is the place to go. Oh and Minado's in Natick! Their fish is ALWAYS fresh.

  7. I have started to lose the taste for sushi, but this looks pretty tempting.
